Rara and Jumla trek is one of the most popular treks in the remote wilderness of far-western Nepal that let you experience superb undamaged nature and visit astonishing largest lake called Rara Lake in Nepal. The Largest Rara Lake is situated in the Rara National Park, located in Mugu district in the Karnali Zone, far western region of Nepal, at the elevation of 3062m. Rara is a unique spot in the remote location of Nepal and natural panorama around the Rara Lake is the pride of western Nepal which explore its hypnotic aura and bewitching charm. It is one of the best calm heavens in the isolated location surrounded by the wonderful forest and paradise for bird watchers. Rara National Park, the smallest park in Nepal is often considered as one of the finest and smallest parks in the world that abounded in coniferous forest and is the ideal habitat for the Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and other fauna. The way to Rara and Jumla is quite off beaten however it encompasses natural and cultural site of Nepal. The reflection of the snow-capped Himalayas in the gorgeous lake provides you with an ideal feeling throughout your journey. Rara and Jumla trek begins after flying from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj with glorious views of Dhaulagiri range, and attractive Nepal’s western landscapes. Then you will take a connecting flight of Jumla and you will take a rest that day. From nest day we can officially begin our trail towards Rara lake. The trail of Rara and Jumla trek allows enjoying the dramatic display of clear high summits of lakes mingled with juniper, spruce, pine and rhododendron forests with awesome views of snow-capped Himalayans peaks.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu
As you will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will greet you and he/she will drop you to your hotel where you can be fresh and take some rest.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Next morning, after having breakfast, officially we will begin our trek by exploring different religious and historical places that are enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage site. You will visit one of the famous Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines across the world, Syambhunath temple is known as monkey temple, Boudhanath stupas, Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 03: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
In this day, after having breakfast, we will take around 45 minutes flight to Nepalgunj, Indian boarder side from Kathmandu. You can also visit mini zoo at Nepalgunja after lunch. In the evening, you can visit market of Nepalgunj and village nearby. Overnight at Nepalgunj.
 
Day 04:  Nepaljung - Fly Jumla - Danphe Lagna (3300m)
Today, early morning after having breakfast, you will take an air flight to Jumla from Nepalgunj. Around 45 minutes scenic flight offers you a magnificent aerial view of Sisne Himal, Dudu Kundari Himal, and so many other peaks. After arriving at Jumla you will officially begin your trail towards Danphe Lagna, situated at the summit of 3300m. You will stay overnight at Danphe Lagna.

Day 05: Danphe Lagna - Chautha (2770m)
Today, after early breakfast, we will trek towards Chautha which is located at the altitude of 2770m. The way to the Chautha, you will witness two tea shops in Tharamara which is situated at the summit of 3280m and the further trail will pass Fir, Birch, walnut and beautiful bamboo forests and you will cross a 2680meter bridge. Then eventually you will reach Chautha village and stay overnight at chautha.

Day 06: Chautha - Dhotu (2380m)
In this day, after early breakfast, we will enter into the entrance station called Ghurchi Lagna Pass of the Rara National Park. The place Ghurchi Lagna Pass is very famous for its natural decoration which is covered with an assortment of chortens (round stone Buddhist monuments) with different colorful flags. You will continue to trail through the spruce forests and eventually you will reach small village namely Dhotu which is situated at the altitude of 2380m. You will stay overnight at Dhotu.

Day 07: Dhotu - Rara Lake (2980m)
After early breakfast, today we will depart Dhotu and continue our gentle trek to the north facing slope by crossing a series of beautiful fields and bridge. The further pleasing trail will lead us to the beautiful Thakuri village of Jhyari, which is situated at an altitude of 2630m. And then from Jhyari, we will ascend up through the magnificent cedar forest and ultimately, we will reach to the Rara Lake which is situated at the summit of 3050m. In the evening, you will visit Rara lake and stay overnight over there.

Day 08: Rest Day in Rara Lake (2990m)
Today, early in the morning after having breakfast, you can explore the Rara Lake, the largest Lake in Nepal. This beautiful Lake has a deep freshwater and situated at the altitude of 2990m. The surface of this amazing Rara Lake is around 8 square Kilometer which is also considered as a unique spot in Nepal. The Lake is situated in the National Park which offers you to visit different flora and fauna such as; various bird species, rhododendron flowers, wildlife; Himalayan bears, Red Panda and musk deer and so on. You can also have an experience of remoteness and a wilderness in the Rara Lake. We will stay overnight at Rara Lake.

Day 09: Rara Lake - Gorosingha (3190m)
Next morning, after having breakfast, our trail will be towards Gorosingha which is located at the elevation of 3190m. Today we will begin our trail from the bridge at the western end of the Rara Lake follow the Khatyar Khola River which is surrounded by Pine, spruce and rhododendron forests. From the bridge at the western end of Rara Lake, the trail will follow the Khatyar Khola River. We will keep following this river slowly descending before us Climb out following a small trail surrounded by pine, spruce and rhododendron Forests. 

Day 10: Gorusingha - Sinja (2440m)
Today, we make our trail towards Sinja, situated at the elevation of 2440m. The way to Sinja always display pleasing Ghatta valley from Gorosingha following. You will get chances to witness the beautiful Sinja Khola River downhill to Sinja, and explore Sinja, the capital of the Malla dynasty.we can also visit the ruins of the Royal Palace situated across the river. Overnight at Sinja.

Day 11: Sinja - Jaljala Chaur (3270m)
Today we will depart Sinja and head towards Jaljala Chaur, situated at the summit of 3270m. From Sinja, the trail crosses the Sinja Khola on a wooden cantilever bridge. The further trail passes few small but beautiful villages, and cross back and forth across the river, most of the trek is through forest blend of Pine, birch and oak and fields of barley and corn, then the trail makes a gradual ascent to Jaljala Chaur, a gigantic meadow full of horses. Overnight at Jaljala Chaur.

Day 12: Jaljal Chaur - Jumla (2370m)
Today, early in the morning after having breakfast, we will make a gentle trail onwards Jumla, which offers you to have a real wilderness experience of nature. This pleasing trail passes through the green countryside which also provides you unusual glimpses of a culture and beautiful forest meadow and eventually, you will reach Jumla. Overnight at Jumla. 

Day 13: Jumla to Back Nepalgunj and Kathmandu
In this day, you will end your trek and return back to Nepalgunj and then Kathmandu. Around 45 minutes air flight for Nepalgunj will once offer you stunning mountains vistas and some lively settlements. When you reach Nepalgunj airport then you will take around 30 minutes flight to Kathmandu. In the evening, you will enjoy farewell dinner and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 14: Final Destination
This is the time to say goodbye and your final departure. Where you will leave all the beautiful moments and natural scenarios of the tour. Our representative will help you to find your final destination.
 
Trekking equipments
The main essentials to bring are:
  • Sturdy and comfortable hiking boots, flip-flops
  • Sleeping bag (depending on your accommodation) and -20 degree Celsius for colder regions
  • Daypack, trekking bag pack, dry sack and camera bag
  • Few changes of clothes for the varying temperatures
  • For cold weather, hiking pants, thermals, gloves, neck warmer/scarf, beanie, a warm inner jacket and a windproof / waterproof outer jacket and down jacket are essential.
  • Water purification supplies, a reusable water bottle and a camelback water bladder
  • Sunscreen, Hat, sunglasses, moisturizing skin cream and lip balm
  • Few snacks, granola bars
  • Hiking stick or two
  • Waterproof case, fabric bandages such as moleskin, a headlamp, altitude sickness and other medication
  • Camera and binoculars.
  • Hand sanitizers, toilet paper, band-aids, wet wipes
  • Extra batteries (solar chargers recommended)
On the popular trekking routes, everyday supplies, such as toilet paper, soap, chocolate bars, and even basic hiking supplies can be purchased along the way, though prices rise dramatically as you go higher in elevation. Try to stock up lower down and buy locally-produced products such as fruit, biscuits etc. Maps are easy to find in Nepal. For the more difficult treks involving mountaineering, crampons and ice axes may be required. Simpler types of crampons, which attach to the shoe using a rubber ring, are easily obtainable in the Thamel neighborhood. These are variously known as spikes, micro spikes and chains.
