Far West Heritage Trail Trek is an adventurous trek in the unexplored area in far western part of Nepal, which offers us to explore the beauty of the Khaptad National Park, spiritual inclination of Badi Malika Temple, and Ramaroshan Wetland area, and covers the districts like Bajhang, Achham, Doti, and Bajura of western Nepal. It is the perfect destination to explore numerous myths and adventurous of the remote region.  Khaptad National Park boasts the habitat of 567 species of flora, 287 species of birds, 23 species of mammals, and 23 species of reptile and amphibians. In this trek, you will also get chances to encounter with various wildlife and flora. During our trek we need to trek into the steep slopes, by viewing gushing streams, moorlands, staggering beauty of the lake, which able to allure the out-doors lovers. One of the major attractions of this trek in the Khaptad area is the Badimalika Temple, one of the important temples in the far western region of Nepal, which encounters the huge number of visitors during Ganga Dashara and Janai Purnima. The Ramaroshan region boasts the availability of 18 pastures and 12 wetlands, which is located in Achham district in Nepal.
 
Far West Heritage Trail trek is a complete blend of cultural exploration of western Nepal, the pristine landscapes, staggering views of mountains, spiritual charms, natural beauties, and untouched landscape that still offers you it’s a pure and original form of existence. Being a trek in the remote part of Nepal, you might have to do some compromises regarding the standard of food and accommodation facilities you get during your trek, however, by the end of each day, you shall find reasons to cherish. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,345 m)
Welcome to Nepal; our representative shall receive you from the airport and take you to your hotel. You can do some shopping in the late afternoon for your trek. We shall be sitting together in the short Debrief Session, enjoying the typical Nepalese delicacies in the popular restaurant. Stay overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
In this day, we will have morning breakfast and we will head towards to explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, Syambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square and Many more. In the evening there will be a small class about the further trek. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

Day 03: Flight to Dhangadhi (109 m)
After breakfast in the morning, you shall board the flight to Dhangadhi. It takes about 0ne hour and fifteen minutes to reach Dhangadhi. Enjoying the beautiful views from the sky, after your arrival in Dhangadhi, you shall be taken to your hotel. If there’s enough time, you can explore the town. Jokhar Lake, Aircraft Museum, and the Botanical Garden are some attractions of this place. Stay overnight at Dhangadhi.

Day 04: Drive to Silgadhi (1,340 m)
This is another day you will travel in a vehicle taking you to Silgadhi which is located 618 KM away from Dhangadhi. Via the steep hills and winding road, witnessing the rural settlements over the hills, alongside the river, you shall reach Silgadhi by evening. Our representative shall take you to your hotel for the night. Stay overnight at Silgadhi.

Day 05: Trek to Jhingrana (2,250 m)
Making to the top of Silgadhi, you shall be accompanied by staggering views of hills and terraced fields till your reach Baghlekh. Leaving the village consisting few mud houses and tea houses, making through the forest of wild berries, you shall trek comfortably to reach Jhingrana. Stay overnight at Jhingrana.

Day 06:  to Khaptad National Park (3,063 m)
Via the dense forest of wildflowers, you shall ascend to Bichpani. Witnessing the staggering views of snow-capped mountains, you shall make through pine forest, pasture lands, and pass several lakes including Tribeni. It takes about 8-9 hours to reach Khaptad National Park. Stay overnight at Khaptad National Park.

Day 07: At Khaptad (3,063 m)
After having breakfast, you can visit the lake inside the Khaptad National Park, the Khaptad Daha. Ashram of Khaptad Baba and Ghodedawan are some other attractions that might make you fall in love with them. In between these two later visits, you shall have your lunch. Stay overnight at Khaptad National Park. 

Day 08: Trek to Kanda (Altitude: Kanda: 1,939 m)
Today is the day to enjoy the sunrise view from the Khaptad observation tower. After the view, you shall have breakfast and march off towards Kanda, via the Khaptad Lake. You can have some moments at Khaptad Lake before descending down to Kanda. You can visit the ‘Kanda Durbar’ in the evening after your arrival at Kanda. Stay overnight at Kanda.

Day 09: Trek to Maure (1,008 m)
Passing through the remote villages, Najura, Birarigaon, Tikhada, Juwapani, and Simallkot, you shall cross the Budhi Ganga River before your arrival at Maure. Throughout the trek, you shall be welcomed by the charm and cheers of local people. They might even offer you tea; you might love to chat with them spending some moments with them. Stay overnight at Maure.

Day 10: Trek to LamgDay 12: Trek to Badimalika (4,214 m)
It takes about 5 hours to reach this major temple of far west Nepal. In the beginning, you shall make through the pastures, and walk on the hilly trail. Your exhaustion is awarded staggering views of snow-capped mountains, beautiful landscape of hills and plateaus. At the top, lies the temple of Badimalika. You shall spend another night in the tent. 

Day 13: Trek to Triveni (3,870 m)
From Badimalika, you shall hike down to Triveni. Passing through breathtaking grass plateaus, you shall descend down for next 4 hours to reach Triveni. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the area. Another interesting part of this trek is that at every moment you are offered with the fresh thing to be amazed at. Camp at Triveni. 

Day 14: Trek to Khalachak
Though it takes about 10 hr to reach Khalachak from Triveni, the walk is comfortable and no strenuous. As you arrive at Khalachak, you shall get the opportunity to witness the most staggering views of Ramaroshan. This is the place where few families come with their cattle during summer. Therefore, you shall not find any permanent settlement here. Camp overnight. 

Day 15: Trek to Ramaroshan (2,417 m)
Ramaroshan is popular for its 18 beautiful pastures (called Patans), and 12 wetlands. The place is popular for the birds such as Dhukur, Kaalij, Dahphe, and animals such as Tiger, wild boar, deer, and so forth. Throughout the trek, you shall enjoy the spectacular beauty of walking through the forest full with rhododendrons. Stay at a homestay in Ramaroshan. 

Day 16: Trek to Muja Bagar (1,500 m)
You shall make the descent via forest and river belts full with pleasing sounds of birds. Nothing is as pleasing and intriguing as walking in the silent forest enjoying all sorts of sounds birds and animals make. As you reach Muja Bagar, you shall have your lunch and explore the place. Stay overnight at Muja Bagar. 

Day 17: Trek to Kailash River/ Drive to Silgadhi (1,340 m)
This is the last day of your trek. Walking through terraced fields with growing paddies, several remote villages, you shall make to Kailash River. After having the lunch at Kailash, you shall drive all the way to Silgadhi. The sweet memories of the initial trekking days shall engulf you as you move further and further away from the Kailash River. Stay overnight at Silgadhi.

Day 18: Drive to Dhangadhi (109 m)
After breakfast in the morning, you shall catch a bus from the station at Silgadi for Dhangadhi. Witnessing the scenic beauties of landscapes, and enjoying the bumpy ride on the windy road, you shall reach to Dhangadhi in 8-9 hours from Silgadhi. Stay overnight at Dhangadhi.

Day 19: Flight to Kathmandu (1,345 m)
After the breakfast, you shall march towards the airport to take the flight to Kathmandu. It is a 1 hour and 15-minute flight, loaded with all sorts of scenic beauties from the sky. Our representative shall take you to your hotel, where, you might fancy a generous rest. Stay overnight at Kathmandu. 

Day 20: Rest day at Kathmandu (1,345 m)
The Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath, Basantapur Durbar Square, etc. are some of the sites enlisted in the World Heritage Site of UNESCO. You might want to do some shopping for your way back home. We shall be sitting together in the Farewell Dinner sharing our experiences. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 21: Final Departure
Our representative shall take you to the airport within sufficient time before your departure flight. They shall bid farewell and part away from the airport; have a safe and happy journey back to your country.

Trekking equipments
The main essentials to bring are:
  • Sturdy and comfortable hiking boots, flip-flops
  • Sleeping bag (depending on your accommodation) and -20 degree Celsius for colder regions
  • Daypack, trekking bag pack, dry sack and camera bag
  • Few changes of clothes for the varying temperatures
  • For cold weather, hiking pants, thermals, gloves, neck warmer/scarf, beanie, a warm inner jacket and a windproof / waterproof outer jacket and down jacket are essential.
  • Water purification supplies, a reusable water bottle and a camelback water bladder
  • Sunscreen, Hat, sunglasses, moisturizing skin cream and lip balm
  • Few snacks, granola bars
  • Hiking stick or two
  • Waterproof case, fabric bandages such as moleskin, a headlamp, altitude sickness and other medication
  • Camera and binoculars.
  • Hand sanitizers, toilet paper, band-aids, wet wipes
  • Extra batteries (solar chargers recommended)
On the popular trekking routes, everyday supplies, such as toilet paper, soap, chocolate bars, and even basic hiking supplies can be purchased along the way, though prices rise dramatically as you go higher in elevation. Try to stock up lower down and buy locally-produced products such as fruit, biscuits etc. Maps are easy to find in Nepal. For the more difficult treks involving mountaineering, crampons and ice axes may be required. Simpler types of crampons, which attach to the shoe using a rubber ring, are easily obtainable in the Thamel neighborhood. These are variously known as spikes, micro spikes and chains.
