Nar Phu Trek is one of the best-isolated treks in Nepal that takes you through the Himalayan wilderness of the region between the Manaslu and Annapurna regions. Explore the secret valleys of Nar Phu just north of the Annapurnas and reach new heights while trekking through 2 high altitude passes the Thorong and Kang. Opened in 2003 these phases never fail to amaze in terms of views and adventure. The Nar Phu valley inhabitants are mostly of Tibetan culture and still practice their own form of Buddhism which is spectacular to witness. During the Nar Phu Valley, we can observe their way of life and gain a new respect for these high-altitude residents. Many trails and paths are still undiscovered in this region and offer a great opportunity to those who love adventure. Nar Phu offers amazing mountain and Himalayan views of the: Mt. Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Mt. Annapurna massif, Mt. Dhaulagiri range, Mt. Tilicho, Mt. Lamjung and many more.
The trek starts from Jagat after your drive there from the Kathmandu Valley and goes through Dharapani, Koto, Meta, Phu Gaon, Nar, Ngwal, Manang, Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, Muktinath, Jomsom, Pokhara, and ultimately arrives back to the Kathmandu Valley. This is a remote area trek; thus, you are required to have a moderate level of physical fitness to complete this trek. March to May and September to November are the best months to do this trek. We can customize the itinerary of the trek, for which, you are required to inform us before we make any preparation of the trek.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,345m)
Welcome to Nepal; our representative shall receive you from the airport and take you to your hotel. After you rest for a while, you might want to do some shopping for the trek. After the completion of our short debrief session regarding the trek, we shall be enjoying the local delicacies in a popular restaurant in the town. Spend your first night in Kathmandu at your hotel. 

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Next morning after having breakfast, we will manage you to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as; Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Boudhanath Stupa. In the evening, our representative will provide you short explanations class about the further trek. You will stay overnight at the same hotel.

Day 03: Drive to Jagat (1,100m)
It takes about 8-9 hours to reach Jagat from Kathmandu. Throughout the driving ride, you shall get to see the amazing views of scattered settlements over lush green hills, small shops beside the highway, and the mountains growing closer and closer. The drive is fine up to Besisahar, and then you shall the bumpy ride. You shall reach Jagat by the evening. Stay overnight at Jagat.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani (1,960m)
This is the first day of your trekking; you shall descend to a river and pass through the dense forest. Ascending over a cliff, passing Chyamje, you shall come to cross a suspension bridge. Then, ascending the, relatively challenging hill to Seattle, you shall descend to Tal. Making through the uneven and windy route, you shall enter into the village of Karte. Making through the cliffs and waterfalls, crossing a suspension bridge, you shall reach to Dharapani. Stay overnight at Dharapani.

Day 05: Trek to Koto (2,610m)
Initially, you shall walk for an hour through the dense forest full with pine and fir, and then pass through Danaque. Then, with a steep climb to Timang, witnessing the views of Mt. Manaslu and Peak 29, you shall enter into the forested area to arrive at Latamarang. Further trekking takes you to Koto. Stay overnight at Koto.

Day 06: Trek to Meta (3,560m)
Trekking alongside the Soti Khola, trekking via dense forest, passing rivers and streams, you shall reach Dharmashala. After you have your lunch at Dharamshala, you shall then continue walking via the dense forest and ascend to Meta Village. This is the Tibetan Plateau where you arrive. Stay overnight at Meta. 

Day 07: Trek to Phu Gaon (4,250m)
Walking on the rugged path, you shall cross the suspension bridge and trek for about 4 hours to reach Kyang Village. You shall spot some of the ruined forts here. Further trekking on the rocky route shall take you to the Phu Village. It takes about 7-8 hours to reach Phu Gaon from Meta. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather the best experience of making through the rocky trail enjoying the views of mountains. Stay overnight at Phu Gaon. 

Day 08: At Phu Gaon (4,250m)
Acclimatization is the best way to adapt in the high-altitude area. Acclimatization day gives you the best opportunity to explore the culture, and some major attractions of the place where you stay. You can visit the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rimpoche, the Tashi Lakhang Monastery. Spend the day exploring the place, the ruins of Khampa settlement, and the breathtaking views of Himlung Himal and similar mountains. Stay overnight at Phu Gaon. 

Day 09: Trek to Nar (4,110m)
Crossing several streams and bridges, you shall descend to Mahendra Pul. Before reaching the Nar Village, you shall pass by several stupas. Trekking for a couple of hours more takes you to Nar. You shall be welcomed by the amazing view of Pisang Peak and other similar peaks. Witnessing these natural beauties in the new part of the world is really exciting. Stay overnight at Nar.

Day 10: At Nar (4,110m)
This is your second acclimatization in this trek, which is very much necessary considering the altitude of pass you shall make through the next day. Spend this day exploring the Nar Village, learning their culture, lifestyle, and practices. Acclimatization adapts your body with the growing altitude. Also, you shall prepare for the next day adventure. Stay overnight at Nar. 

Day 11: Trek to Ngwal (3,660m) via Kang La Pass (5,322m)
This is the day full with adventure; you shall trek for a long while making to the top of the Kang La Pass. It is quite strenuous and challenging, but not to a great extent. The top offers you the most staggering panoramic views of mountains, the landscape below, and the faraway hills. Then, you shall descend down to Ngwal. Once you reach there, you shall give your body generous rest it deserves. Stay overnight at Ngwal. 

Day 12: Trek to Manang (3,540m)
Passing through the scattered settlements of Paugh, witnessing the breathtaking views of Annapurna, you shall ascend to Mungli. Trekking further takes you to Manang. The best part of arriving at Manang is that you shall camp here. Manang is the best place to extend your cultural awareness and experience. Witnessing the staggering mountains, your trek is worth lamenting upon. Stay overnight at Manang.

Day 13: Trek to Yak Kharka (4,110m)
Crossing a stream, you shall ascend to Tenki Village, and exit from the Marshyangdi Valley. Making towards the northern direction of the valley, you shall make through some pastures, keep moving at higher altitude. Passing the Ghunsa Village, you shall make through meadows, you shall cross the river via a bridge, and passing the Mani Wall, you shall arrive at Yak Kharka. Stay overnight at Yak Kharka. 

Day 14: Trek to Thorong Phedi (4,600m)
Thorong Phedi is located at the bottom of the Thorong La Pass. The next day, you shall cross the Thorong La Pass. This day is also equipped with amazing views of mountains. It is also important to accommodate at the lower altitude areas since accommodating in the high-altitude area is risky. Be prepared for the challenging adventure of the next day. Stay overnight at Thorong Phedi. 

Day 15: Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorong La Pass
Making to the top of the pass is quite challenging and strenuous. To make through the icy section, you shall march to the top early in the morning. The top of the pass awards you with the most stunning and panoramic views of mountains, streams, and landscape. Then, after spending some moment at Thorong La Pass, you shall descend down to Muktinath. Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. Stay overnight at Muktinath. 

Day 16: Trek to Jomsom (2,715m)
After having breakfast in the morning, you shall descend down via the Kali Gandaki gorge, passing the Khingar and Jharkot Villages. Further trekking takes you to Jomsom. You shall find some quality restaurants, lodges, hotels, and a few other infrastructures here. This is the last place for your guide and porter as you shall fly to Pokhara the following day. Stay overnight at Jomsom.

Day 17: Flight to Pokhara (870m)
Jomsom to Pokhara is a 30-minute flight. After your arrival at Pokhara, you have the day with you. Pokhara is the best touristic city in Nepal, and you shall find several worthy places to visit and explore throughout the day. The even short hike is possible to the World Peace Pagoda. Otherwise, you can do boat-riding in the Phewa Lake. Stay overnight at Pokhara. 

Day 18: Drive to Kathmandu (1,345m)
It takes about 7 hours from Pokhara to reach Kathmandu by road. Enjoying the fading mountains, settlements over hills, you shall make this bumpy ride to Kathmandu with lots of natural sceneries to view. Our representative shall take you to your hotel, after arrival in Kathmandu. Stay overnight in Kathmandu. 

Day 19: At Kathmandu (1,345m)
Today you can do some rest and do some shopping for your return home. We shall be sharing our experience over the Farewell Dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final Departure
Our representative shall wait for you in front of the hotel and take you to the airport in a vehicle before your scheduled departure flight. They shall then bid their farewell and part away. Have a safe journey to your country.

Trekking equipments
The main essentials to bring are:
  • Sturdy and comfortable hiking boots, flip-flops
  • Sleeping bag (depending on your accommodation) and -20 degree Celsius for colder regions
  • Daypack, trekking bag pack, dry sack and camera bag
  • Few changes of clothes for the varying temperatures
  • For cold weather, hiking pants, thermals, gloves, neck warmer/scarf, beanie, a warm inner jacket and a windproof / waterproof outer jacket and down jacket are essential.
  • Water purification supplies, a reusable water bottle and a camelback water bladder
  • Sunscreen, Hat, sunglasses, moisturizing skin cream and lip balm
  • Few snacks, granola bars
  • Hiking stick or two
  • Waterproof case, fabric bandages such as moleskin, a headlamp, altitude sickness and other medication
  • Camera and binoculars.
  • Hand sanitizers, toilet paper, band-aids, wet wipes
  • Extra batteries (solar chargers recommended)
On the popular trekking routes, everyday supplies, such as toilet paper, soap, chocolate bars, and even basic hiking supplies can be purchased along the way, though prices rise dramatically as you go higher in elevation. Try to stock up lower down and buy locally-produced products such as fruit, biscuits etc. Maps are easy to find in Nepal. For the more difficult treks involving mountaineering, crampons and ice axes may be required. Simpler types of crampons, which attach to the shoe using a rubber ring, are easily obtainable in the Thamel neighborhood. These are variously known as spikes, micro spikes and chains.
